Should mention that cooked bones can be hazardous for a dog. My dog cracked a tooth on one of those. Cooked chicken bones can splinter and cause damage or even death to a dog. I don’t give my dog bones at all anymore. Too much risk compared to any possible advantage. I am surprised this was not mentioned in this article.
Bones are good if you get the right kind for your dog. My dog will break any bone and swallows it I give so I do not give any anymore. She brings them up over night on the carpet. i tried Bulli stick, she chewed really big one in one hour. Other dogs will chew on them for two or three days. Brushing was not possible to do,she is too big to hold her down. I finally found a powder I sprinkle on her food and it will do the trick, mostly.Dental Treat by “Wysong” it’s natural a bit expensive but works for us.
